Artist Statement

Norah Brennan Artist statement

My work is focused on emotions and feelings which are grounded in memory. My medium of choice is Screen printing and I sometimes combine this with Lino-cuts and Wood-cuts. This has allowed me the freedom to be expressive in my compositions and while I have had to learn that I could not fully control the medium I have derived pleasure in allowing the medium to take me where it will. I work instinctively and allow initial ideas to evolve during the printing process.

Colour and aesthetics are important considerations in my work and my current body of work has been grounded in the pure joy of expression and freedom to convey emotions in a visual way.

Aine Hayes Artist statement

The theme that I am dealing with is one of 'old' and 'new in relation to the built environment. I have explored line, tone, shape and texture through looking at building structures. I have chosen to use etching as a medium to convey my theme. I have been inspired by my everyday surroundings

Claudia Keegan Artist statement

I work with abstract shapes and figures to create a sense of self. I am investigating my existence, from early childhood memories to present day encounters, through the medium of printmaking. I use both traditional and digital printmaking techniques in my work.

Dawn O'Loughlin Artist statement

I spent a lot of time on traditional methods of printing, i.e. etching, I ending up on a more contemporary route and doing a lot of digital printing. My work has a lot of juxtaposition in it. The main purpose of my work is to see the interaction of man with nature, though not through traditional methods, i.e. cutting the lawn. My work focuses on how man examines nature and to see how he reacts to it in unusual ways.
