Man of La Mancha aka Don Quixote is a musical with the book by Dale Wasserman, lyrics by Joe Darion and music by Mitch Leigh. In the sixteenth century, Miguel de Cervantes, poet, playwright, and part-time actor, has been arrested, together with his manservant, by the Spanish Inquisition. They are accused of presenting an entertainment offensive to the Inquisition. Inside the huge dungeon into which they have been cast, the other prisoners gang up on Cervantes and his manservant, and begin a mock trial, with the intention of stealing or burning his possessions.

Tom Crean - Antarctic Explorer

Tom Crean (1877 – 1938) the intrepid Antarctic explorer and one of Ireland’s unsung heroes, is brought to, life in this dramatic and humorous solo performance by Aidan Dooley.

Crean’s story is a testament of human fortitude against all the elements of Antarctic, his 36 mile, solitary trek to base camp during the Terra Nova expedition to rescue his comrades Teddy Evans and William Lashly has been described by Antarctic historians as “the finest feat of individual heroism from the entire age of exploration”. This is theatre that you can keep coming back to again and again, an experience that looses none of its gloss.

The Monastery Primary School presents its biennial concert called ‘Treasured Tales & Tunes’ at the Simon Ryan Theatre. A treasure trove of treats awaits the audience including some of the best loved tales with a slight twist … such as ‘Snow White and the Seven Punks’! ‘The Wizard of Oz’ revisited, ‘Treasure Island’, ‘the Dance Off’ and some tunes from the school band.

The Monastery shows which have been so well supported throughout the years never fails to delight the audience and we look forward to another wonderful production again this year. So book early to avoid disappointment.

From The Barman (Mick The Bull) to Father Finnegan to former President Mary Robinson, audiences relate to each character from the many aspects of Irish life. He devised, wrote and starred in the critically acclaimed six part TV series The Savage Eye on RTÉ. The show was nominated for an IFTA award for Best Entertainment Series and the third series will be being screened by RTÉ in 2012.

Following a two-year Irish tour and award-winning performances in the USA with Bombshells, Jasango brings you this wittily observant comedy. The comedy explores what life is like for Angela Kennedy-Lipsky, recently dumped by her accountant husband for a younger model. Rebuilding her life, she finds herself adrift in a sea of weird sexual encounters, sneaky solicitors, phone-in counsellors, a bad case of hypochondria and impending poverty. Should she fight to keep her husband? Or should she sign the final papers and move on? Fast-paced modern comedy-not to be missed!
