The Tipperary International Song of Peace Grand Final will bring together songwriters and composers from Ireland and abroad vying to win the specially commissioned Song of Peace Crystal Trophy and cheque for €1,500. 10 finalists will compete in the ‘live’ Final which will feature the cream of songwriting talent from across the world. There will be a full supporting programme on the night featuring the Excel Stage School and the On Your Toes Dance Academy presenting excerpts from Disney’s ‘Aristocats’, ‘Fiddler on the Roof’ and ‘Honk Jr.’ and the exciting sound of the Thurles CBS ‘Mini Big-Band’. It's a night not to be missed!

On Sunday 11th May the 2008 Regional Finals for the South/Eastern clubs will be held in the Excel Theatre, Tipperary. This will be an action packed mixture of music; dance and comedy as a number of clubs battle it out to go forward to the National Finals in the University Concert Hall Limerick. A talent show with a difference, young people (15 to 18) from the various clubs around the South & East put together a 20 minute variety show which will entertain and delight you. The No Name Club is a National youth organisation formed in 1978 which has more than 30 clubs in all four provinces.

Step into a magical world presided over by the cleverest cat ever to wear boots, in this delightful re-enactment of an all-time fairytale favourite! A poor miller’s son is left with a most unusual inheritance: a cat named Puss. No ordinary feline, Puss soon reveals he can talk and persuades his master to spend his last pennies on knee-length boots, a long flowing purple coat and a feather-topped hat! The mischievous Puss then leads his master on a series of adventures in his mission to help him to win the heart of a beautiful princess! But when the king demands to see his riches, the clever cat must go to the land of the wicked magician and use all his cunning to ensure that everyone lives happily ever after!

The first guitarist in the world to adapt to Paul Galbraith's new groundbreaking technique and instrument, Redmond O'Toole plays an 8-string 'Brahms guitar' in the cello position connected to a special resonating box. The additional range of the guitar allows an expansion of the repertoire as well as incorporating original music for classical guitar. Activities in 2007 included performaces in Mexico, two Irish tours, a concert with the Chieftans and the Ulster Orchestra in Belfast and concertos in Germany |

Seven Ages of Man

As part of the Bealtaine Festival celebration, this Recital is performed by Glynis Casson with actor Daniel Costello in The Gallery. It is loosely based on the “ Seven Ages of Man” from birth to death as described by Shakespeare. It has a huge variety of material, mostly comedy and includes such material as Louis Macneice's “ Prayer Before Birth,” Michael Rosen's “Chocolate Cake, “Shirley Valentine” excerpts from the plays “School for Scandal” and the handbag scene from “The Importance of Being Earnest”. Glynis also sings a number of songs such as “Betty Grable” “Garten Mother's Lullaby” and “She Moved Through The Fair.” This programme consists of two fifty-minute sections and is one that is humorous and light-hearted, appealing to all ages. |

The Rhondda Valley Male Voice Choir have been singing for many years to great acclaim. Welsh Male Voice Choirs have been noted for many years for lifting the spirits with their beautiful songs and harmonies. As the saying goes, if you have more than two welsh people together you have a choir. This welsh choir is no exception, with their songs of the valleys, musicals, modern and spiritual repertoire. It is with great pleasure we welcome the Rhondda Valley choir to Tipperary in May to entertain you at the Simon Ryan Theatre,

The workshops will guide students physically and creatively to develop skills, exploring expression, rhythm, style and musicality. All classes cover aspects of warming-up, stretching, turning, jumping, floor work, partner work and all travelling forms. Students will learn to dance funky hip hop dance sequences to increase their dance vocabulary and develop confidence to their favourite songs/music. The overall aim of the week will be to stimulate a fun, vibrant, and positive learning environment while also mastering a high level of dance skill. 'Fun With Music'is a series of music workshops for young people aged 10-12 years. Young people will have a chance to collectively express their thoughts and ideas through participative music-making. Creative workshops are designed to enhance musical and social skills and to nurture self-esteem and confidence in an atmosphere of fun and encouragement. Workshops will include singing, song-writing, musical drama, improvisation and some African drumming. Musical instruments are provided and participants may also bring their own instruments along if they wish. No previous experience necessary. |

The award winning Ballet Ireland Summer School is
in its eighth year and returns to the Simon Ryan Theatre in
August with its own take on the yarn of the golden goose.
During the weeklong course, participants will dance,
act and mime out the story, together with dancers and
tutors from Ballet Ireland. At the end of the week there will be a performance held onstage, in a professional
environment, and open to all, parents, friends,
neighbours and the general public.
